(Nagoya University) MicroRNAs contained within extracellular vesicles (EVs) may serve as diagnostic markers for several types of cancer. Researchers centered at Nagoya University developed a novel nanowire-based polymer that is highly efficient at isolating EV from urine samples. Using the device, they identified large-scale changes in microRNA profiles among cancer patients. The medical device potentially lays the foundation for an improved diagnostic tool in routine care.
